|Earthquake in Lima|
October 28, 2016
Early this morning, a 4.9 magnitude earthquake was reported in northern Lima, Peru. Students felt the tremors in the city. However, no major damage was reported, and no tsunami warnings were issues. All students on the IFSA-Butler program in Lima are reported to be safe. Today will be a normal day of classes and activities.
Earthquakes and tremors are a part of life for Peruvians as they happen frequently this time of year. Our resident director covered earthquake safety information to students during the program orientation at the start of the semester, and all host families are trained on how to respond in an earthquake or an emergency. Our resident director in Lima is available 24/7 should an emergency occur in Peru.
