IFSA-Butler at the International Festival of Indiana

IFSA-Butler was a proud participant at this year's International Festival of Indiana. Our staff took turns sitting at our table and spreading the word about the importance of global education. Below, Butler University student Jennifer McKibben, who studied on our Costa Rica program, volunteers at our table.

IFSA-Butler Staff Presentations

Congratulations to the following IFSA-Butler staff who presented at NAFSA regional and other conferences this fall:

• Field Director Ali Janicek was a presenter at the NAFSA Region III conference in New Orleans. Ali's session was "Working with Providers: An Open Dialogue."

• Field Director Opal Leeman Bartzis chaired the annual International Education Leadership Colloquium, which was themed "Furthering Campus Internationalization in Times of Economic Challenge," at the NAFSA Region VI conference in Indianapolis. Opal serves as the International Education Leadership knowledge community liaison for Region VI.

In addition, Opal, who serves on the board of the Western Virginia International Educators, recently co-presented a session titled "Preparing and Transitioning Your Students" at their fall conference.

• Assistant Director for Academic Affairs Rhonda Hinkle presented "The International Education Administrators Fulbright Program: Germany" at the NAFSA Region VI Conference in Indianapolis.

• Assistant Director for Communications Kathy Walden will be a panelist in a session at the NAFSA Bi-Regional Conference in Omaha. The session is titled "Having It All But Too Tired to Care: A Conversation on Life/Work Balance."

 
IFSA-Butler Literature Professor Featured in the Guardian
Argentine novelist Martin Kohan, who teaches IFSA-Butler's literature program courses in Buenos Aires, was recently interviewed about his works in the Guardian newspaper. Kohan has written six novels and numerous short stories and essays, and he is one of the few writers from Argentina whose writings have been translated into English. Read the article.
 
Assistant Director for Academic Affairs Presents at Indiana NAFSA
IFSA-Butler's Assistant Director for Academic Affairs Rhonda Hinkle presented at the Indiana State NAFSA meeting in June. Rhonda's presentation, "Fulbright International Education Administrators Program," focused on her Fulbright experience in Germany and provided an overview of the application process.
 
Peru Resident Director To Teach for Foreign Service
IFSA-Butler's Peru Resident Director Laura Balbuena has been invited to teach a course at the Peruvian Foreign Service academy. Laura's course will be Elements of Political Science. Congratulations Laura!
