For Students: An Exciting Plunge into Academics and Foreign Cultures
Minority Students
The Institute for Study Abroad is committed to providing equal opportunity in study abroad and does not discriminate on the basis of race or ethnicity in our activities, admissions, employment practices or programs.

IFSA-Butler encourages students of all backgrounds to explore study abroad through our programs and our organization is sensitive to the special needs and considerations of minority students. Non-discrimination legislation effective in the United States does not always apply overseas and laws governing rights to action and access vary considerably from country to country, but we will work to help minority students find university programs that are a good match, both academically and socially.

We also can assist students with information regarding legal status, race relations and prevailing attitudes in each country where we have programs. This information is available from our office in Indianapolis and in our offices around the world.

IFSA-Butler is a member of and the Diversity Abroad Initiative (DAI). The goal of and the DAI is to increase the number of under-represented students, particularly minority and low income students, who pursue education abroad programs. In conjunction with the DAI, provides scholarships to students going abroad and participates in campus outreach to make students, parents and faculty more aware of the benefits of education abroad.
