“I love being able to help students through the challenges of study abroad and seeing them celebrate their triumphs. The best part of my job is watching students grow amd change throughout their time abroad, in ways they often don’t recognize and could never imagine would be possible.”
Sharna graduated from the University of Adelaide with a bachelor’s degree in development studies (honors), with a minor in politics, and began her doctorate at the University of Adelaide in 2012.
Sharna has lived abroad in the United Kingdom, studied abroad in Thailand, and spent nine months living in Timor-Leste while conducting Ph.D. research. Despite differences in each of these locations, many of the experiences, emotions and challenges associated with living abroad were the same and Sharna has been able to use her own experiences to help students successfully navigate their study abroad experiences.

Due to her strong dislike of seafood, Sharna can say “I don’t eat fish” in six different languages. Unfortunately, she only knows other useful phrases in English.
