“I am immensely grateful that studying abroad connected me to wonderful places and genuine people! My goal as an IFSA Enrollment Counselor is to help students take the first step in expanding their awareness, discovering themselves, and developing empathy for the diversity of the world.”
Education
Aundrea graduated from Western Washington University in 2020 with degrees in biology and German. Outside of her studies, she enjoyed competing for her university’s cross country and track team and working as a peer advisor at the tutoring center on campus, where she could help fellow students set goals and learn effective study strategies.
Travel Experience
Aundrea found her passion for cultural awareness as a high schooler, when she studied abroad for a summer in China, through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth Scholarship. During college, she also took summer courses abroad at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Her favorite place in the world is Innsbruck, Austria, because it is surrounded by stunning Alpine peaks and full of outdoor adventure galore!
Did You Know?
As an undergrad, Aundrea interned in a biology lab that studies real-life zombie flies, infected with a mind-controlling fungal parasite. Don’t worry, this parasite can’t infect humans! See this video if you want to learn more.
