Lily Buren
“Growing up with two parents that live in different countries has taught me the value of traveling abroad and learning about different cultures. Embracing two distinct worlds from a young age, I cherish the unique perspectives each country offered. Exploring diverse cultures has widened my perspective and deepened my understanding and empathy for others. I hope that when students travel abroad they grow to have a great appreciation for the new people they encounter wherever they choose to explore.”
Education
Lily is a sophomore at Middlebury College where she is majoring in environmental studies with a focus on justice, and minoring in French.
Travel Experience
Lily was born in France and moved to the United States when she was two. Her father is French and still lives in France. She spends at least a month a year visiting her father and has grown to love practicing her French while she is there. Throughout her life she has also traveled to South and Central America, including living a year abroad in Costa Rica. Whenever she travels she prioritizes finding off-the-beaten-path places via the app Atlas Obscura. She currently lives in Vermont where she spends most of her free time hiking, exploring the woods, and foraging for wild edibles.
