Eleni Katsarelas

“When students become globally engaged, there is a greater understanding of others’ differences and an appreciation for diversity. I wholeheartedly believe that international education is the antidote for ignorance. My experiences abroad have allowed me to learn so much about the world and IFSA gives me the opportunity to help others down the same path.”

Education

Eleni attended Western Michigan University where she double-majored in Spanish and psychology. During that time, she worked as a psychology teaching assistant and a behavioral analysis research assistant as well as a bilingual student teacher. In the spring of 2019, she was inaugurated into the Phi Beta Kappa Society.

Travel Experience

As an undergraduate, Eleni studied abroad in Burgos, Spain, where she lived with a host family. In 2019 she moved back to Spain and did as much traveling as possible! Her favorite European cities (so far) have been Dublin, Amsterdam, and Rome, but Madrid will always have her heart.

Did You Know?

Once a week, Eleni gathers with friends for “culture nights.” They choose a country, cook a traditional meal, and report on a topic they have researched ahead of time about the country.
