Biography

Maraina Montgomery serves as the Director of the Office of International Education, in the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership, at Morehouse College.

Maraina brings a commitment to DEIJ in education abroad and experiences supporting the development of students, systems, and processes at faith-based, HBCU, and state institutions. Her perspective on social justice within the context of international education can be found in publications by NAFSA, The Forum on Education Abroad (including A House Where All Belong: Redesigning Education Abroad for Inclusive Excellence, edited by Nick Gozik and Heather Barclay Hamir), Diversity Abroad, and the PIE. Maraina is a practicing ecotherapist, community organizer within education abroad, and The Forum on Education Abroad and International Career Advancement (ICAP) Fellow.

“As an IE administrator with a dedication to HBCUs, I am passionate about developing strong relationships with other thoughtful change-agents. I have long appreciated IFSA’s work to advance Inclusive Excellence and look forward to working alongside talented colleagues to lend time and perspective in support of IFSA as it builds on its legacy of success,” Maraina said.
