IFSA President and CEO Elected to NAFSA Board

IFSA’s President and CEO, Dr. Heather Barclay Hamir, was elected to sit on the NAFSA: Association of International Educators board of directors.

“I am honored to be elected to NAFSA’s Board of Directors,” says Barclay Hamir. “NAFSA plays a crucial role within international education, and has been an important part of my own development as an education abroad professional. I have been impressed by NAFSA’s ongoing work and recent initiatives, particularly around inclusion and increasing engagement with senior leaders on campuses. I am looking forward to being of service to our field through my participation on NAFSA’s Board.”

Barclay Hamir also serves on Diversity Abroad’s Advisory Committee, is an Emeritus member of the Fund for Education Abroad’s Board of Directors, and served two terms on the Forum Council of the Forum on Education Abroad. In 2017, she completed her first book, Promoting Inclusion in Education Abroad: A Handbook of Research and Practice with co-editor Nick Gozik.
