  5. Hello, London: Studying Abroad as an International Student

What I loved about my program

Joining this IFSA program was one of the best parts of my undergraduate studies. From the welcoming IFSA staff to the student body at large, everyone was super nice and always there to help.

Through IFSA, I joined thoughtfully curated excursions that truly enriched my experience. My favorite was seeing a performance of King George, played by Jonathan Bailey. My housing also felt like a luxury—on the 25th floor where I had the most amazing view of the city. The staff was incredible, we had free breakfast on weekdays, and I lived two minutes away from the train station, making it easier to commute.

Studying abroad as an international student

My time here flew. I met so many awesome people, including the IFSA team, who made my time in London effortless. As an international student who was already studying abroad, I never thought I would experience so much growth here. I thought London might feel similar to my hometown. Its accessibility, active culture, and rich history made every single day a new adventure.

One of my favorite things was trying food from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Vietnam, and many more countries. I traveled to different places within the UK and outside of it, creating memories I will cherish forever.

How study abroad impacted me

Studying in London also made me appreciate the little things in life, like planning a jazz night with friends, going to comedy shows, and traveling together. One piece of advice I would give to future students is to not be afraid to start conversations with people—some may become lifelong friends.

As my time in London comes to a close, I leave with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. Thank you, London, for your welcoming arms. And shoutout to IFSA for providing this incredible opportunity, especially for STEM students like me. Without the well-structured programs and support, studying abroad might have remained just a distant dream.
