Biography
Amanda Adams is a Partner and Not-for-Profit Tax Leader in Citrin Cooperman’s tax practice with more than 20 years of experience providing tax compliance and advisory services to not-for-profit organizations throughout their life cycle. Over the course of her career, she has developed deep expertise in the creation of not-for-profit organizations, private foundation excise tax compliance, public charity status determinations, and planning related to unrelated business income. She is also a recognized thought leader, authoring numerous articles and publications and frequently speaking at not-for-profit seminars.
She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Georgia and holds a Women in Leadership Certificate from Cornell University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas and her Master of Science in Accountancy from the University of Houston.
Her current and past activities include:
- Chair, AICPA Exempt Organizations Taxation Technical Resource Panel
- Member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
- Director and Past Treasurer of HealthMPowers, a Georgia-based nonprofit organization focused on promoting healthy habits for children
Amanda has received the Catalyst Impact Award from Cherry Bekaert LLP in 2021 in recognition of her leadership and contributions to the profession. She is also the author of several notable publications, including articles in Taxation of Exempts and the Journal of Accountancy, as well as contributions to industry guides published by Wiley.
Amanda lives in Atlanta with her husband of more than 25 years and their three children. In her free time, she enjoys reading, jogging, and attending concerts—especially when they include an opportunity to travel.
