Biography
Scott Carpenter is an Associate Dean in the Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement (UGE) at Columbia University. Scott is a member of the UGE senior staff, overseeing Columbia-approved programs and developing programs at Columbia’s center in Paris at Reid Hall, in addition to providing leadership on other strategic initiatives. In 2020, he helped establish the Global Columbia Collaboratory, UGE’s virtual global learning platform, in conjunction with Columbia Global Centers and other worldwide partners.
Scott has been at Columbia since 2006, working on global education in a number of capacities, including student advising, exchanges, and international partnerships. From 2014 to 2018, Scott led the fellowships team in the Office of Global Programs and Fellowships.
A first-generation college student, Scott holds a master’s degree in French Literature from NYU and a bachelor’s degree from Dickinson College, where he majored in French and Spanish and studied abroad in Toulouse, France and Málaga, Spain.
