Gracie Mathis
“As I am learning more and more about the world we live in, I find myself wondering more and more about how more people can get the opportunity to go explore it. I think experiencing other cultures is a valuable experience. I know there are challenges to being able to, and I want to be a part of the journey of figuring it out for others.”
Education
Gracie applied to a handful of universities thinking she didn’t want to go to the same school her mom attended — and then went there anyway. She arrived at the University of Puget Sound very unsure of what she wanted to do, but found a major (Science, Technology, and Society) that combined all of her interests!
Travel Experience
Gracie’s first real adventure out of the United States was all the way across the equator! New Zealand was everything she had hoped it would be and more: so many backpacking trips and so many dips in the ocean in between studies. She traveled to Australia while she was there, but she spent most of her time exploring both New Zealand islands.
